Stock gel blasters can be seriously fun. But if you want the ultimate experience, nothing compares to a GBU custom. These completely change the game, allowing you to get the most out of your gel blasting sessions like never before.
But what specifically is better about GBU custom gel blasters than their stock equivalents? How do they differ?
That’s what we’re about to find out.
What Makes GBU Custom Better Than Stock Gel Blasters?
GBU custom blasters are a way to improve your gel blasting experience. Getting into this hobby can cost a lot of time, effort and money, so knowing what you’re doing is critical for success.
Usually, people learn to build custom gel blasters solo. They must find all the parts and know how to put them together.
But at GBU, we make custom gel blasters for you according to your instructions. All the hard work gets done by our pros, so all you need to do is focus on blasting.
Of course, we think it’s a good idea to learn how to put your gel blaster together and get started. But if you want to skip these difficulties, we have no problem doing it for you. We know how hard it can be to learn everything as someone just getting into the sport.
Standard Stock Gel Blaster Components
So, what does a stock gel blaster have inside?
- Metal gearbox
- Hand guard
- Suppressor
- Metal receive
- Butt stock
- Motor
GBU can modify all these components, although we recommend against changing everything to keep the price in range. We generally suggest changing the internal components to max out performance, so you know what’s inside and the power you’re getting.
GBU Custom Gel Blaster
By contrast, when you pick up a custom GBU gel blaster, you’ll notice many differences, from the components to the colours and aesthetics. Almost everything is different to give you something that looks cool and provides the ultimate performance. Most of these upgrades and changes are simply unavailable with a stock gel blaster.
So, what does a GBU custom have inside it to differentiate it from a stock blaster?
The primary changes affect the gearbox (the most complex part of any gel blaster). However, you can change everything from fire selectors to mag releases, triggers, foregrips, barrels, and internal gear mechanisms.
So, ultimately, the sky’s the limit when it comes to modifications. GBU gives you something custom-made according to your specifications and ready to take on the field to dominate your opponents.
Fully Customised GBU Gearbox
One of the primary differences between GBU gearboxes and stock versions is the suitability of the spring. Combining a high-powered motor with a custom spring is usually bad because the additional energy goes into the motor and can’t move the spring. (Manufacturers design standard motors to pull M100 stock springs.) However, upgrading both eliminates this issue, allowing for superior performance on the field.
GBU recommends you upgrade every component in your gearbox at the same time, including:
- Cast gears
- Tappet plate
- Cylinder head and nozzle
- Seals
GBU’s customised gearbox includes the SHS High-Torque Black motor, with 28,000 balanced RPM. We complement this with SHS carbon steel gears, working with the carbon steel pinion on the motor, and the SHS carbon steel piston.
We don’t think you should run a carbon steel rack with the stock cast gears since the former is stronger and can chew away at the latter. Therefore, we suggest adding SHS gears (or equivalent) to avoid any system element outperforming.
Sometimes, we add an SHS nozzle to the GBU build. Most blasters don’t require it, but we can add it if that’s needed for the best experience.
We also include the SHS tappet plate, which is harder than standard versions and capable of dealing with higher speeds than stock plastic.
Upgrading the seal is also useful. We use a green O-ring that allows for higher internal pressure, which replaces the non-quality-controlled black stock O-ring, which can leak and drop FPS.
Other GBU extras include:
- Bushes – Super durable and won’t burn out while in the field
- Select fire plate – Additional durability for a higher fire rate
- Shims – Reduces the risk of excess heat and squeaking for maximum performance (no need to wait for cooldowns in the field)
- Personalised spring compression – We match springs for various gear ratios, including 9:1 (DSG), 12:1, 13:1, 16:1 and 18:1. (For example, we can pair the M120 spring with a rapid 16:1 gear ratio).
Why Choose A GBU Custom Gel Blaster
Ultimately, a lot of extras go into the GBU Custom. You can set up your gearbox and blaster how you want without learning all the details first.
Furthermore, we have years of experience knowing what parts work together. We know when gearboxes wear out or last a long time, simply based on the combination of components they contain. Bitter experience has taught us not to take chances with gearboxes in custom gel blasters and to always ensure that the components match the required specification.
We avoid going over the top with aesthetics and allow you to add modifications that make your gel blaster your own. You can still stamp your personality on it to ensure that it doesn’t wind up looking alien.
Finally, GBU Customer Gel blasters offer substantially higher performance. Shots are more accurate, and the FPS is far higher than stock versions, usually over 300 (and possibly higher depending on the spring you choose to use in your custom build).
